New England is home for dozens of Men's and Women's Lacrosse teams competeing in Division I, II, and III at some truly stellar Colleges and Universties. On the Men's side the marquee programs are Harvard, Brown, and UMass. Brown has made the NCAA tournament 11 times and UMass 17 including a championship game appearance. On the Women's side Boston University is always a team to watch, but there is certainly plenty of competition. As in other parts of the country there are more Women's teams then Men.
In Divsion II and III Women's lacrosse New England has a strong presence with half to the 2010 preason top 30 teams hailing from region in D III. The college season starts in mid to late February and concludes with championships in early May. The Men's tournamnet was held at Gillette Stadium in 2008 and 2009, and returns to Baltimore this year. It will return to Gillette in 2012. The Women's tournament will be held in Towson MD in 2010, and move north to Stony Brook on Long Island in 2011. You'll find these web sites informative and in many cases have highlight video clips.
Believe it or not this is not a complete list and does not include Club Lacrosse teams, many of which will enter the NCAA play in the future. Every year more and more College games are televised which is an outstanding way for a young player to learn the sport.
